Eating Your Way Down Third Avenue

Updated 2026-08-30

Third Avenue is the closest thing Chula Vista has to a main street, and it rewards walking. Park once, eat three times, and finish with coffee.

Start late-morning, not at noon

Kitchens along the strip fill up between 12 and 1:30 with the lunch crowd from nearby offices. Arriving around 11am means shorter waits and full menus.

Split plates and keep moving

The point of the street is variety. Order one plate per stop, split it, and walk to the next. Three stops across a few blocks is a comfortable afternoon.

Sunday is market day

The Third Avenue Farmers Market runs Sunday mornings — produce, tamales, flowers and live music. Combine it with brunch on the same block and you've filled the morning.

Park once, eat in small plates, and treat the whole strip as one long menu. Check the directory for current hours before heading out.
